I'm back to looking at the 2025 Federal election result, this time explaining the Victorian results. At the start of the campaign Victoria was where Labor could lose the election, but in the end the state delivered Labor a record result. More detail here. antonygreen.com.au/fed2025-hous...

Hydrogen demand forecast in the draft 2026 AEMO ISP dropped from 55TWh to 34TWh. IMO, it's still too high...

I am as guilty of it as everyone but it's kinda funny we're all quoting a content mill account that doesn't cite its sources to be mad about AI slop
McDonald's has released an AI-generated Christmas ad

The studio behind it says they 'hardly slept' for several weeks while writing AI prompts and refining the shots — 'AI didn't make this film. We did'

Now it makes sense why I saw this on another site - 6 packs of tim tams at CostCo in the US for the equivalent of AUD15.

Meanwhile, $6 per pack at Woolies..

Interesting thread and article, but there's an offhand reference to an "Australian horse and kangaroo meat scandal of 1981" that made me look twice.

So apparently we had a massive issue 45 years ago with exported beed (sometimes horse/roo) and it led to a Royal Commission and big changes..

Other EV data is now out in the linked article, and 2025 already has more EV sales (92,885) with one month to go than in 2024 (91,293).

It's not growing fast enough but at 8% y/o/y growth it's definitely not going backwards like some of the haters think..

it's the classic programmer trap: just because something works in our domain doesn't mean it will work in other domains! "how hard could it be, it's only rocket science" etc

the sheer hubris to think that a robot that is 80% right will be good enough for other, less fault-tolerant domains.
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening

Just discovered Anne Twomey has a YouTube channel explaining constitutional issues.

Funnily she mentions that YTs analytics say she zero <18yo subscribers, but the comments say otherwise.

Hot tip kids, sign up as an adult and then watch law vids and you won't get booted!

I feel like I need an AU version of the Moderated Content podcast from @evelyndouek.bsky.social to understand the background to this case.

I seem to know more about Netchoice v Paxton and Reno v someone than our local laws in Oz.

Maybe Evelyn can get together with Anne Twomey for a pod?

Good piece on why the CIS from @chrisbowenmp.bsky.social should be considered a failure so far, given little wind is getting built and we're not going to hit anywhere near 82% renewable by 2030.

Interested to hear Chris' response when he's next on the podcast..
"The RET created demand. It turns out this really matters. The CIS leaves all the onus on suppliers to take the risk of building. Gentailers can, and they do, sit on their hands."
