Don't miss this annual highlight in the @anchoragesymphony.bsky.social schedule--coming up this Sat, 1/10. Silent movies were never actually "silent," of course--there was always music. Cinema with live music is a real treat--and in this case, provided by the Anchorage Symphony Orchestra!
Silent Film Night is almost here. Are you ready?
Experience Charlie Chaplin’s "The Kid" as it was meant to be seen—on the big screen with your Anchorage Symphony performing the score LIVE.

I admit I have been fooled by fake documentaries on YouTube. Once by an AI generated Papal speech, once by fake Rachel Maddow, and by a fake Warren Buffett. This is going to get worse. I get scammed. What to do?

This is really cool: a guy found one of the original Cinemascope anamorphic adapters used to shoot 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA (1954), and that had been sitting in storage for 70 years, for sale on eBay bought it and shot some beautiful new footage with it www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vg0f...

Still from 1960 Soviet propaganda film "In the Year 2017," named for the centenary of the October Revolution. Film suggested a future where Alaska has been "liberated" from capitalism and connected to Siberia by a combination dam/railroad & nuclear-powered trains. #alaskahistory
