Taco Tuesday! Tonight we are having black bean and turkey tacos 🌮 Washed down with a Moosehead Lime Chelada. 🍺

Two corn and wheat tortillas filled with a mixture of black beans and ground turkey topped with avocado slices, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheese and lettuce, plus some crème. Behind is a green can of lime and salt light beer.

Yes and no. Not by that name, I would normally use Yves brand tofu crumbles (no doubt basically TVP) or sometimes tempeh. For this it was just a mixture of various beans and vegetables which I puréed slightly to give some body.
Dried TVP would be easier to store and perhaps cheaper.

The family of Fraser Lake, the 16 year old who died on September 27th when his motorcycle went off the road on Old Sambro Road in Williamswood is begging elected officials to make changes to keep young people safe on the roads, particularly roads around the Sambro Loop.

My 16yo nephew, Fraser Lake was tragically killed in a Motor Vehicle Accident on the Old Sambro Road on September 27, 2025.
On October 4, 2025, 4 young people also wrapped their car around a tree on the Sambro Loop.
Fortunately, no fatalities occurred; however, there were serious injuries.
Only 12 days later, on October 9, 2025, another accident occurred in the exact same location where Fraser lost his life. Sadly, we heard this MVA also resulted in at least one fatality. Although, this has not been confirmed, as nothing in relation to the accident has been reported.
Our family is also aware of at least one other fatality occurring there, in May 2016, when a young man was also tragically killed.
Many other lives have been taken far too soon around the Loop, including in June of this year, when a 19yo was killed, who was also Fraser's friend's older brother.
All of our families' lives have been shattered, changed forever because of these unimaginable tragedies. A mother, our community and its children are grieving.
Our family would like to encourage dialogue around the concerning number of MVA's and fatalities around the Loop, and what steps can be taken to minimize the number of accidents, so that no more families have to endure this heartache.

Our family would also request that our elected officials act quickly and responsibly to:
- put up a guardrail along that section of the road that took Fraser's life;
- add signage that indicates a sharp turn ahead;
- review the speed limit on that dangerous turn; and,
- add more signage around the Loop in sections where there is no passing; as people do not respect the solid double line and pass illegally, including on dangerous turns.
These are minimal steps that can be taken to potentially prevent another tragedy from occurring in our community.
In the coming weeks and months ahead, our family will also bring legislation forward to advocate for changes to the Motor Vehicle Act around young persons operating motorcycles.
Our message is not one of anger, but of urgency and love. We cannot bring our sweet Fraser back, but we can and must do everything possible to ensure that no other family experiences this kind of pain.
May his memory be a blessing.
