You can't say that now; you can't have a great fall without sounding like a fictional egg. Perfectly good phrase ruined by yolk
Mr. Moore and I to St. Gregory’s, where I escaped a great fall down the staires of the gallery: so into a pew there and heard Dr. Ball make a very good sermon, though short of what I expected, as for the most part it do fall out.

Anyone enjoying the current re-runs of vintage Call My Bluff on BBC Four might like to check out the show's cameo appearance ten minutes into this barking mad NF Simpson parody. I remember watching this in 1973 and being flabbergasted.

Oh wow, watching the Chris McCausland: Seeing into the Future doc on BBC and it's shifting my perspective on so many things - AI (to an extent), meta glasses, driverless cars: They're all capable of transforming the day to day life of someone who can't see. For that, they're really wonderful

Just once when something cool happens in Bewitched, like Paul Lynde appearing in the mirror, it would be great if Darren could crack a smile instead of being a right git about everything

Finally watching Better Call Saul. I love its Philip Marlowe qualities and everything else about it, not least that it fits nicely into Joel Morris's brilliant yellow cars in comedy theory
And here is my thesis on the prevalence of yellow cars in comedy. Nobel Prize pending.

The Paris metro had 1st Class until 1991?!
Love that the older women they interview here about the only real advantage - being able to get a seat if you need one - are incredibly glamorous

This week is Road Safety Week & a chance to talk about Barbara Castle!

Barbara was Transport Minister for three years yet she was able to introduce the Breathalyzer, a proper integrated transport strategy & more!

This was done despite fierce opposition.

I read the HG Wells book The Wheels of Chance, an 1895 cycling themed romcom. It's dated in two fun (to me) ways. At one point the protagonist describes seeing someone riding an "ordinary." This is what penny farthings were briefly known as when the safety bike first came in

Anyone ever actually done the old...

A: "Shh, listen to that!"
B: "[...] I don't hear anything"
A: "Exactly - silence, isn't it wonderful"

...bit?
I wonder how many times A could get away with it in the first hour of a holiday before being locked in the toilet

Just saw a bloke with a moustache happily jiggling a baby he was carrying on his chest in a big black and white stripy sling. In the half light I was certain he was a Frenchman and I'd gone accordion-deaf
