That can only happen with more compassion, less judgement, less 'winning' because if the end goal is to win, not grow, everybody loses.

Our world is much worse off with polarisation and egotistical maniacs trying to win the argument instead of thoughtful introspection. See also why I hate Jubilee

We need to reclaim the fence, the grey area of productive, constructive disagreement that leads to growth.

It would be great to see art that challenges polarisation because we're in desperate need of talking to people we don't agree with.

The internet instead gives us a short-term fix, an artificial high, by only showing me what I already agree with or monetising my outrage.

What I got from this exhibition is the absolute necessity of diversity in all its forms, beyond superficial labels, but of mind, thought, and soul.

Otherwise, we're letting the algorithms win, giving into cognitive dissonance and increasing polarisation.

Just to add another insane thought to this thread this morning - when you're an insightful, thoughtful person, there is also absolute joy in sharing the analysis of pure loathing - that in itself is a super fun experience 😀 🫠

I have just been to the most toe-curlingly mediocre and electrifyingly trite exhibition I have seen in decades.

It was at a London gallery. The artist was there. He held forth in terms that if I repeated them, you would think I was quoting David Brent.

The reviews have been glowing.

VERY weird.

It really was! Elven couture really does feel like my natural style 🧝‍♀️

I am absolutely loving reading The Two Towers - on Book Four, and Sméagol has entered the chat ;)

Currently half-way through The Two Towers, and I am very much enjoying elving it up Lothlórien style at my last Comic-Con in Brighton

"Scientists are mulling an intriguing possibility: if aliens exist, their technology may be only marginally better than ours."

I don't accept the radical mundanity theory because, let's be honest, it wouldn't take much to outpace Earth at the moment in the face for superior intelligence.

Seriously, good point. It would have been excellent as a parodying criticism of the modern age. Sadly, took itself way too seriously to be deemed satire. 🤪 🫠

Loved sharing this experience with @mattpotteruk.bsky.social 🤣

Pro-tip for if you're visiting the museums in South Kensington - it's £19 for salmon and salad at the V&A museum cafe. Walk 10 minutes to Imperial College campus cafe, and get the same thing for £8.50.

Thanks for a lovely day. We will be back for some more zen in Freud's study!

Only in London could you go to the @freudmuseumlondon.bsky.social in the morning, followed by a snack of smoked salmon bagels at @jw3london.bsky.social then head to Camden Arts Centre for an exhibition of Richard Wright paintings, and finish with Vietnamese Pho for lunch.

Yes because what America needs is to be more ignorant about stories from unfamiliar lands... 🙄

Because movie tickets weren’t expensive enough.

A performance of ‘oceanic’ jazz club vibey, Lynch-meets-Morricone whistling with Molly Lewis, supporting Beck at Royal Albert Hall. ‘The Crying Game’ cover a poignant piping highlight #MollyLewis #Beck #RoyalAlbertHall

I loved the support act Molly Lewis, a professional whistler. It was dreamy and like being transported back in time to an old vintage movie.

Two turntables and a microphone, and an 80-piece orchestra and a lot of fun, with #Beck performing at @royalalberthall.bsky.social last night 🎼🎸🎻

Agree, different brains should just be normal; tearjerker still implies "less than" when, in fact autistic people are just like the general pool - better at some things and not so good at other things. Like humans generally
