Like history, literature, baseball, tolerance. Interested in world affairs, but they're painful now we're this close to peak stupid. Torontonian, cancer survivor, mostly retired. Here for the fresh air, so far so good! Only DM me if my house is on fire.

For sure it was cake she told everybody to eat?
I'm pretty good with his interpretation of it.
Baseball fights are great... I remember hearing that one time a guy got hit in one! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
25 Years Ago Today: Roger Clemens throws Mike Piazza's broken bat barrel at him as he runs to first base during Game 2 of the #WorldSeries at Yankee Stadium! (October 22, 2000) #MLB #Mets #Yankees #History
Old-time baseball adage; 'Good hitting will beat good pitching, and vice versa."
It applies here.
In the postseason so far:

- Jays offense: 4th highest Oct SLG% since 1969

vs

- Dodgers pitching: 2nd lowest Oct SLG% since 1969

Forget small ball myths. This series is going to come down to whether Toronto bats can keep slugging vs an elite LA rotation.

The strength-vs-strength battle that will decide the World Series
In the regular season, no team's batters had a lower strikeout rate than the Blue Jays, and no team's pitchers struck out more batters than the Dodgers. Sometimes, the World Series narratives write th...

Fine outfielder, and his reputation is great clubhouse guy!
Absolutely! Myles in the OF is a reassuring sight (although maybe not as much as seeing him pinch-run for Kirk!)
I find it amusing how well accidental consequences have worked up and down the roster this year for GM Atkins. eg: Straw by accident, big contract to Anthony Santander on purpose.
Oddly, the $11 million man, Myles Straw, has proved to be a very useful piece for the Jays. Not what you're talking about, I know, but this year Toronto's roster is crowded with players like Straw, who have far outperformed any reasonable expectation at the start of the season.
Whenever you see these mutts arresting anyone there seems to be several of them fumbling and struggling with one unlikely suspect. Are they trained at all?
The US has better neighbors than Canada does, gotta give them that! ๐Ÿ˜‰
'However, burning down the United States will continue unabated. Thank you for your Alarming Patience while we complete that Process.'
This is fascism.
Wab Kinew is an inspiration, a gobsmackingly rare reaction to a current Canadian provincial premier!
Here's a great video from Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew who is the first indigenous Premier dancing in his jingle dancer regalia for a every child matters gathering for Truth and reconciliation day ๐Ÿงก so powerful #EveryChildMatters
Missed publicly mocking the disabled... but the point is made!

Has anyone raised this with the US Ambassador? ๐Ÿ˜
Old school. The holes in the jar are now huge!
As requested
Too bad!
It's taken me a very long time to understand the extent to which the promise of the New World included refuge for intolerant strains of the Old World's religions.
(Do you suppose Europe really missed the people leaving on the Mayflower?)
The Holten Cemetery Christmas candle-lighting ceremony still goes on and it puts our domestic Canadian historical memory to shame, and they still send tulips to Ottawa.
But presumably Hoekstra's parents were there to experience the war and missed the memo.
I was surprised to learn Hoekstra was born in the Netherlands. His generation was raised to deeply respect Canada for its heavy lifting ending their country's long Nazi occupation in WW2.
Do it. My countryโ€™s ambassador, nรฉ Cornelis Piet Hoekstra, from Groningen, the Netherlands* is a right wing goon. The man who appointed him is the worst human my country has produced.

*No slight remotely intended to my compatriots who were born elsewhere. Or to the Netherlands. Wonderful country

Agree. They shouldn't receive lower wages than Canadian workers for the same thing. Are they here because they're needed, or just because they're cheaper? They should also be able to change employers when they're here, otherwise they're indentured servants, which was ruled a bad idea long ago.
I don't know why temporary workers should be filling what are not obviously seasonal positions, other than the preference of the employer to pay them less than everybody else's minimum wage.
