I was laid off and unemployed for around 8 months this year after working consistently as a writer in games since 2017. To say "it sucked" would be an understatement; I truly feel for everyone going through this, and don't have easy answers. All I can say is don't be afraid to reach out to others.

It’s far better to choose a guiding word to keep you moving towards your goals. And remember that your goals, however big or small, should be things you can sustainably reach and measure over a period of time… otherwise you just set yourself up for disappointment and failure.
It is the time of the year when I remind everyone that a new years resolution is harmful because it is a binary fail state. You usually break them because you don't have steps to work towards it.
A 'New year's direction' is far healthier as every step towards it is to be celebrated.

Y’know, this year has really, really sucked. Professionally? Top of my game. Personally? Just sinkhole after sinkhole since the year started.
I’m glad that my mom is going to be okay. I’m glad to be somewhat recovering from the massive burnout that the last 7+ years of chaos had created in my body
