Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.

Dude, Metal Gear Ghost Babel is so fucking good. Why didn't I play it earlier?

I love the color palette of this game so much. I don't really like the visuals of GBC games, but this one is an exception. So pretty!

I was meaning to check the English translation/performance patch for the Final Fantasy 1 MSX port anyway, and now that I have a working VCR, I decided to go one step further...

Including floppy disk load times, VHS noise and FM audio. Played on Panasonic FS-A1WX

Today’s the 25th anniversary of Spyro: Year of the Dragon, a game I personally think is one of the best platformers ever made. And I reflect on how PlayStation, and Insomniac, have sort of lost the spirit of these kind of games - and how I hope Astro Bot’s success can change that.

No idea! Government quests existing in BB really threw me off, so I'm still unpacking that one. At this point, I'm assuming if it's in GC, it was probably in DC but with a screwed up script activation. Seems to be the trend. 😅

It seems to extend beyond just Mome. I've been playing Blue Burst a little and seen some Gamecube footage. Every instance of what appeared to be new dialogue triggers to me is actually in Dreamcast, but only activates in Japanese. Easy check is the beginning of Waterfall Tears.

A particularly insidious but common pitfall of community moderation is an understandable but wrong insistence on running things via strict adherence to a set of guidelines. This never actually works in practice because you end up with a bunch of bad faith actors constantly testing boundaries.

I have conflicting feelings when I remember that place. A lot of things would be different had I not been there, but I also had a somewhat miserable time. I learnt there are things I would rather enjoy privately than be in a community for, especially considering unstable, bad faith individuals.

Repost reminded me of modding a certain community years ago. User shipped a pairing; was also the type to bait drama. I gave him a warning. He later spammed gore + porn. I banned him. Without context, people got crabby for "mod abuse over shipping", which I didn't care about. Nobody believed me.

one thing discord has done that, imo, is less than ideal, is all user moderation is more or less invisible. nobody sees when you time out or mute or ban people, unless they happen to catch a username turning white or messages vanishing (and even then, that could mean several things)

Keep tabs on this site and it's shady decisions, blocks and suspensions.

They'll try to rewrite the story in the future, so it's important to archive now so they don't pretend that we're crazy if they ever try to change it. (Take screenshots, use archive.today, etc.)

It might be time to stop coming on social media, save for checking on individual people. I'm too disappointed in the state of things and how people treat friends and strangers alike. And I've expressed this before, but I don't think I've gotten what I want from it for a long time now.

Okay so RetroAchievements:

Removed the Romhack
Removed the staff member pushing for it from Admin
Banned a bunch of the chuds trying to pile on
Removed some other stuff that shouldn't have been there
Reinstated and unblocked accounts that shouldn't have been

I think they're handling this right tbh
