Sorry but this is the funniest headline I will read all year
Having just gotten back from Ireland where we spent the least time in Dublin, pretty much checks out for any country. The renowned sights of the world in major cities are worth your time, but not at the expense of getting to know a nation's true personality and soul outside of them.
And the Jeu De Paume and Orangerie are right down the Tuilleries gardens, wonderful in their own right and often overlooked.
Aka surveillance thrones.
Agreed. And the Raid is a nice touch. And honestly, what the hell does it have to do with partisan politics as opposed to objectively bad choices?

Sounds … about right.

But still crazy to think those words were spoken aloud.
Russ Vought set out to ensure a second Trump term would not be hampered by checks and balances: “I don’t want President Trump having to lose a moment of time having fights in the Oval Office about whether something is legal or doable or moral.”

Russell Vought, Trump’s Shadow President
From the wholesale gutting of federal agencies to the ongoing government shutdown, Russell Vought has drawn the road map for Trump’s second term. Vought has consolidated power to an extent that inside...

Invariably anything he does, no matter how illegal, unusual, or unbecoming of the office, is always framed as trying to make sense of potential future problems ("getting", "becoming", etc.) when in actuality it's very real now. It's less "rhetoric" and more purposeful verbal violence.

couldn’t agree with this more. conservatives in casual conversation will say the most out of pocket shit you’ve heard in your life but we’re out of touch if we call them out or judge them for it because they get a benefit of the doubt never afforded to progressives.
The reason for this is that this class of people has internalized the idea of conservatives as the American Volk, an idea downstream of the senate and EC giving them more power than their numbers that has somehow become a quasi spiritual belief about the nature of the country
Let alone that they continue to propagate this massive lie about Soros being an evil financial backer of anything they don't like.
Protest is one of the most pro-American things citizens can do and I saw a ton of kids and grannies yesterday. Meanwhile, we also have an absolutely insane AI video posted last night by Trump depicting him in a crown and literally dropping shit on Americans.
Fraudulent and deliberately framed in their favor. Strong verbs and inferring the Marines are Vance's weapon to wield.
And I thought the NYT framing was bad. "Jabs". They all treat it like a joke, a tit-for-tat in partisan bickering rather than the pointed insanity it really is. At least one thing is clear, his utter disdain for anyone who doesn't enable him.

Good morning, America. Nice work yesterday. I love you.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. This thread on how, via framing, specific word choices, important omissions and article placement, the New York Times empowers this administration and misleads readers.
This is quite a hed/subhed.
1) Start with Vance. Use strong action verb. Accept the autocratic premise that the “Marines’ Might” are Vance’s to flex.
2) Mention the protest second and absurdly describe them as in the thousands
3) Treat Trump’s strong man use of the military as a partisan scuffle.

A lot of centrist commentators who genuinely got worked up about the unforgivably insulting nature of "cling to guns and religion" or "basket of deplorables" are weirdly silent about Trump portraying himself as literally shitting on American cities
Had a great day out there.
Let's talk about this pic though, wow.
Portland ICE facility now.
I wish for a time where Presidents couldn't post.

HOLD UP. George Santos is the lead story on the @nytimes.com website on Saturday night? Not the millions of Americans protesting Donald Trump today at 2,700 events in all 50 states? Come on.
