Cam Skattebo really has some of the most troubling (complementary) vibes in the history of football. He should absolutely not be allowed to do anything else with his life other than play this game.
Franklin-bashing has been my favorite CFB pastime for many years but it’s pretty undeniable he’d he level Maryland up significantly. Also, he’s probably the only guy they could hire after a potential Locks firing that could reasonably keep the young local stars on the roster.
Good time to remember that there are no truly great coaches in any sport. Literally none, ever. There are shitty ones and decent ones and pretty good ones, but the good ones only ever look great when they have elite talent, and will look mediocre or even shitty as soon as they don't.
Sorry to be this person, but it needs to be said that Cowherd (who I am loathe to defend) was obviously joking when he tweeted this. I’ve seen so many people repost it and I feel like I’m going crazy every time.
My stance has always been that this season will tell the story of whether they can do anything interesting with him at the helm. The talent is there and the schedule is as manageable as possible. He has plenty of opportunities to turn it around after yesterday. But that one stat says so much.
This was obviously a terrible loss but I don’t agree that this is some different, definitive loss vs some other terrible losses. If they had won today, they still could have shit the bed next week or at UCLA. And they can still win either of those games after losing this one.
The rest of the season needs to play out, but if things a pretty clearly not as good as they should have been, I think he would be aggressive. The results will tell the story.
They’ll yell at me and on podcasts and that’s fine, the team deserves it. They don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt at all. But I’ll still watch and think one day something good will happen. I’ve been a Knicks and Mets fan my whole life. Sometimes good things happen to rotten teams.
