I’ve been trying to think of what other sports thing is as unlikely as IU going 13-0, beating OSU in the BTCG and being the 1 seed in the CFP.

I think the only comparison is Leicester City winning the EPL in 2016.

My thoughts on the current state of Maryland men’s basketball:

Unfortunately, Matt Campbell is a good coach.

The good news is he’s among the guys they could reasonably hire who will do the least amount of damage to Maryland in recruiting and he’s taking over the husk of a roster.

The last time LeBron James didn’t score 10 points in a game was a month before Barack Obama announced he was running for President.

Shouldn’t Penn State just go get Dan Mullen at this point?

I have come to really like KAT and mostly enjoy watching him play but if you can get Giannis you do it.
Brian Windhorst on who will call MIL for Giannis:

"It'll be Giannis instructing the Bucks where he wants to be traded and the Bucks trying to make the best possible deal with that team...you can put whatever verbiage you want around it...[in the summer] he basically said 'I want to be a Knick.'"

Just be Literally Micah Parsons and all will be fixed.
SIGNED: St. Frances Academy (MD) five-star edge rusher Zion Elee has officially signed with Maryland, becoming the highest-ranked recruit in school history 🐢

I have a small piece of the old Cole Field House court (with the three point line on it!) because when they were taking it apart our senior year @zwack2112.bsky.social was working for the AD and stole it for me from a pile of scraps.
What is the most "obscure" piece of sports memorabilia that you own? Why do you have it?

Hey look it’s Solomon Washington!

Penn State Head Coach Randy Edsall
SOURCES: BYU coach Kalani Sitake is expected to remain with the Cougars after receiving strong interest from Penn State, @theathletic.com has learned.

BYU is expected to commit more resources to Sitake and the FB program, which plays for the Big 12 title/CFP on Saturday (ESPN 1st)

The QB of that NC State team was Russell Wilson BTW
Maryland hasn't beaten a non Rutgers team at home in November/December since 2010 when they beat NC State! All things are possible with Maryland football and most of them are bad!
it genuinely does not seem possible that over the past 16 years Maryland has won 75% of its games prior to October 1 and only won 28% of their games after that, but it's true! it's really true!

Since we are in all likelihood one year away from Maryland needing to make a football hire, let me go on record with the names I’m interested in so we can look back and see if I was right:

Future Maryland coach
SOURCE: New Mexico and head coach Jason Eck have agreed to a new five-year deal with a raise to an average salary of $1.75 million.

Lobos are 9-3 this year and could get their first 10-win season since 1982. One of the best stories in CFB this year:

www.nytimes.com/athletic/655...
New Mexico’s revenue sports had one good year. Then almost everyone left town
Heavy football roster turnover is common in college sports’ free transfer era, but New Mexico faced a rare double-dip this year.

MSU hiring Fitz is good for Maryland because it means that if Jim Smith goes into the market next year, he can’t be tempted to hire his fellow Northwestern alum.

On one hand, Lane getting Ole Miss to this point then leaving is insanely lame and anti-competitive.

On the other hand, the scene that will great Lane in Oxford every other season is the kind of stuff that makes college sports more fun and interesting than pro sports.

Perfect end to the season. The freshman QB plays extremely well for most of the game, highlighting why it’s so important to make sure he’s still around next year. Then they lose another incredibly winnable game due to terrible play calling and terrible discipline.

I hate that I’m still excited to see how good Malik Washington will be next season, no matter who the coaches are. He’s just so fun when he’s clicking.

I know college sports, more specifically college football, more specifically SEC football is post-shame, but Auburn going Harsin to Freeze to Durkin would be vile on a level that I didn’t think was possible.

I do think Pavia should win the Heisman.
November 29, 2025 at 11:42 PM
Can’t argue with any of this. When you have 15 new players, this is the risk. Buzz said he prioritized long term health of the program over short term wins. That means they better be way better at end of the season and even more so next year. Most fans can endure the pain now but that’s temporary.
Kind of seems like the transfers are bad besides Payne. Coit is undersized against real competition, Watts looks helpless, Saunders is awful, I’m not giving up on rice but the bare minimum he needs to make a layup in transition
November 27, 2025 at 3:25 PM
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we will look back at this bizarre “tournament” in a few months and realize the results were not totally indicative of team quality. It’s not just MD. Does anyone think Michigan is 40 points better than Gonzaga?
November 27, 2025 at 1:25 PM
Smo was better. Like a lot better.
Elijah Saunders is afflicted with an absolutely devastating, crippling bout of Evan Smotrycz Disease. It’s some of the worst we’ve ever seen. Has spread to every inch of his body. There is no cure or course of treatment.
