Many people, thankfully, will not even see the original screed. However the fact checking by @angierasmussen.bsky.social and @jeremyfaust.bsky.social is a great read. Highly recommended
I really did not enjoy Jay Bhattacharya & Matthew Memoli’s screed against pandemic & virology research for the flagship blog of a “free-market think tank." Instead of getting mad, I accepted @jeremyfaust.bsky.social's kind invitation to take a factual & scientific blowtorch to it.
We've got a MASSIVE DEEP-DIVE rebuttal to the NIH leadership’s recent essay. They're arguing for a head-in-the-sand approach to pandemic preparedness.

The great @angierasmussen.bsky.social joins me in an extraordinarily detailed, line-by-line fact check.

Of course there is no evidence to back up their goals. No evidence suggests combining MMR in one vaccine is dangerous. A study of 1.2 million kids just came out showing no risk from aluminum adjuvants www.acpjournals.org/doi/10.7326/...

Hot off the press at Vaccine, the former (competent) ACIP used a standardized tool for evaluating vaccine advisory committee performance to deliver a solid evidence-based ass-whupping on the quacks that RFK, Jr replaced them with.

This should really increase access to baloxavir. Oseltamivir is even cheaper at an average of about $25 on GoodRx but cheaper some places. We dramatically under treat flu in high risk and hospitalized patients.
🆕 XOFLUZA® is now available on costplusdrugs.com!

40mg and 80mg | 1 Tablet Therapy Pack for $50

Every addition brings us closer to a healthcare system built on transparency and fairness, where pricing is clear and access is never an afterthought.

The dust has not settled yet, see also reporting by @lenasun.bsky.social However, this action against key parts of CDC is dangerous, vengeful, and heedless of the risk to the health of all of us. The incompetence is equally staggering.
100s of #CDC employees were notified Friday they were being fired — RIF'd. The firings cross multiple parts of the agency, endangering its core mission of keeping Americans safe.
Saturday, some were informed they were RIF'd in error.
