I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.

NEW: Metadata from the “raw” Epstein prison video shows approximately 2 minutes and 53 seconds were removed from one of two stitched-together clips. The cut starts right at the “missing minute.”

Kristi Noem had an allergic reaction at a restaurant and was taken to the hospital but is doing ok

Apparently she ordered the Habeas Corpus and didn’t realize it contained due process
which didn’t agree with her

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles
Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.
Breaking News: Brad Lander, the New York City comptroller who is running for mayor, was detained by ICE agents at an immigration court as he tried to escort a migrant out of the courthouse to prevent his arrest. nyti.ms/4jWkANE

Cancel culture isn't new; we've always had it. We literally write essays about it in high school for the Scarlet fucking Letter. What changed recently is who we cancel - we no longer cancel you for for being queer, using drugs, divorcing & remarrying, but for being abusive, hateful, or a sex pest.

I can hear this cover in my head. The moment when an entire arena is brought nearly silent only for a few precious seconds before the cacophony rises again to meet the action.

Art by Daniel Warren Johnson, a cover for his Do A Powerbomb! serialized OGN.

I can't wait to read the headlines about the DoJ arresting a Trump appointed judge in Texas for being too liberal.

The pretext is that these tariffs are the result of a complex international commerce dispute, but the actual text is just a Chat GPT spouted formula that's never been applied to tariffs - ever, but the subtext is that it's really just a worldwide extortion scheme.

From talking with people I still don't get any sense that the public truly understands the rolling, concussive systemic failures coming due to the dismantling of all corporate oversight, regulatory autonomy, labor rights, consumer protection, and the social safety net

Congrats to Chuck Schumer on figuring out how to get the entire Dem base absolutely livid at someone other than Trump or Musk.

Fucking Democrats. I should have known Schumer didn't have the stomach for a fight.

Democrats even *thinking* about joining Republicans to censure Al Green for having the courage to stand up while they sat down do not deserve to be able to generate a single fundraising dollar from a person of moral character ever again.

There is a very distinct theme at work here in the legisative actions of conservatives: blind ideology running headfirst into the brick wall of reality. Over and over. This, "DOGE", every other policy and legislative priority of the right: intentional and completely unnecessary harm to the public.
Dozens more pregnant and postpartum women have died in Texas hospitals since the state banned abortion, ProPublica’s analysis shows.

As the maternal mortality rate dropped nationally, it rose in Texas by 33%.

ProPublica’s first-of-its-kind analysis is the most detailed look yet into a rise in life-threatening complications for women experiencing pregnancy loss under Texas’ abortion ban.

Out of an abundance of caution I froze my credit with the three unofficial bureau's of credit. I'm not planning on any major purchases and I'm sure not opening any new lines of credit with the CFPB defanged for the time being.

Trump 2.0 is just the dumbest Ocean's film in the series.
Trump on DOGE: We’re going to go into Fort Knox to make sure the gold is still there. You know that? We’re going to go into Fort Knox. You know about that? We hope everything is fine with Fort Knox. But we’re going to go to Fort Knox and make sure the gold is still there.
