ERA5 modelled solar energy ranking for Alaska in October 2025 showed record low amounts of solar energy across much of the interior portions of the state compared to all other Octobers since 1940. Statewide, it was the second lowest October average (2013). @alaskawx.bsky.social 🕶️

There are some nice abraded rock surfaces just down the road at Rib Falls. Not quite on a level with what you see at Grandfather Falls, but still worth a stop. Nice contrast between lithologies. I think it's the metavolcanics that take the best polish.
