Honestly? Nothing - after my initial concept, I made the guy and the name just slapped itself right there into the box. Didn't give it a second of thought, he was Augustine.
Maybe some subconscious connection to one of his inspirations, Rasputin? I'm not really sure. It's worked out, anyway

Augustine 'The Endless Truth' is, you're shocked, big on truth. He lies by omission, and guards certain truths close, and understands that to many that would make him a liar. He recognises the commodity of 'truth'.
But he deals in honesty most of all - in his nature, particularly, he cannot lie.

As a male drow noble, Val'dran always knew he was supposed to be for drow females' pleasure, though free to seek it from others at other times. But it doesn't feel good with women. The body reacts, but mentally...

I don't think I've given much of my own culture to Val'dran 🤔 Beyond the Norwegian "don't talk to me" anyway 😂

I do hc that in a modern/human AU, he's from somewhere in the middle eastern region, though I haven't researched enough to know exactly where yet.

Val'dran has essentially always been wandering since he first fled his House in his 30s. He has some home bases though.

The Bregan D'aerthe compound in the Clawrift of Menzoberranzan. A lil apartment in Luskan. An inn room in Neverwinter.

And now Halsin and Sorn, where they may be.

Val'dran does not get along with people who insist on singular truths, whether in situations or reality itself. They tend to be insufferably arrogant, demanding and declaring their view to be truth, and he has neither time nor interest for it.

*Especially* if gods are involved.

Val'dran tends to operate on little rest - he'll hide in a corner and get half an hour to an hour of trance, then get back to it again, and keep going like that.

But he did the once go a whole 8 days without rest at all. Not Recommended. He started hallucinating at that point.
