#Glasgow Green 1910 might be one of the most beautiful maps I’ve been given (Andrew).
The Clyde meanders from top left to bottom right, curving languidly around handsome looking spaces like Richmond Park & Glasgow Green. Names that beg a visit in the modern day.

Good to see the problems facing our colleagues @britishlibrary.bsky.social being raised here by @hetanshah.bsky.social (of @britishacademy.bsky.social). If this had happened in France it would be considered a national problem to be urgently addressed! www.cityam.com/the-british-...
The British library is in crisis: why does nobody care?
The widespread indifference to the British Library's crippling cyberattack demonstrates a perilous failure to value the knowledge infrastructure vital for national prosperity

This is a new low from a govt plumbing the depths of performative cruelty in hopes that the public won’t notice they have no answers to the real issues facing this country

A sensible, humane govt would focus on safe routes to prevent people making dangerous small boat crossings

Details matter! #FamilyHistory
Having just read a refence to a marriage taking place at "St
Pancras’ Old Church in 1854" in an otherwise excellent article about a case of bigamy, I thought it might be worth revisiting my blog about the St Pancras churches.

It's easy; the 'old' church is (kind of) the newer of the two...

Brighton & District 1894
“This part of the Sussex coast is dominated by #Brighton, one of the fastest-growing cities of 19th-C England. It (...) grew from about 7,000 in 1801 to (…) 120,000 by the time this map was published.”

That final point is absolutely crucial.
The fact that the BBC has made serious culpable errors does not negate the point that there is a real and concerted right-wing media campaign to destroy it. Both points can be true at the same time and the campaign would not end even if the errors did.
