WH40k fan (especially Horus Heresy) hampered by my inability to paint.

Lover of 40k novels, sci-fi, and romantasy. I buy LOTS of ebooks, so please feel free to recommend some!

Pfp artwork taken from a pic by mydinh on DeviantArt. Looking for a new one.
After The Incident With The Cousin, my throat was feeling scratchy and my nose was getting sniffly, so I took my temperature this morning to make sure he didn't get me fevery and sick. My temp was almost exactly two degrees below the "normal" temp of 98.6, so apparently I'm actually dead.

I'm currently in a Publix the size of an airplane hangar helping my mom pick up a bunch of stuff for Thanksgiving dinner and there's like a thousand people here and I'm pretty sure I'm in hell.

Traveling for Thanksgiving sucks. I spent seven hours in a car and had to use the creepy outside bathroom at the rest stop because the main building had construction work being done on it and was closed and now I'm masked up at my parents house because my idiot cousin is sick.

Finally finished "Dropsite Massacre". I liked it, but was slightly disappointed because it was about 40% the stuff I wanted (about the psychological impact of the betrayal and massacre on the Imperium and the Primarchs specifically), and 60% bolter porn.

I need to reread "Fulgrim" now, I think.

Perturabo is far from my favorite Primarch, but I always loved this pic of him by Alex Boyd from the old Visions artbooks, because it shows that Perty is such a grumpy gus that even his hammer is a giant sourpuss. It's like he's wielding a daemon-possessed Mr. Yuk in battle.

Hmm.

Again with the very carefully-gender-neutral pronouns for a Space Marine in "Dropsite Massacre".

What's going on here that both Loyalist and Traitor viewpoint characters are being so cagey about the gender of the Space Marines they're sometimes fighting, I wonder?

This is an interestingly gender-neutral way to refer to a Space Marine.

I think science fiction needs a resection/excision. The old white male "fans" are a tumor on the genre. A very malignant tumor.

What do we do with tumors? Cut them out.

Conventions, stop inviting these racist, sexist, hateful people to be on panels. You know who these people are, or can find out.

I watched a documentary about Lilith Fair on Hulu, and it gave me a surprisinglu intense nostalgic longing for the 90s.

I'm not entirely sure why it hit me so hard.

Oh, hey, @shawntomkin.bsky.social, who made Ironsworn/Starforged, my favorite RPGs on the planet, also co-wrote the solo rules for Fria Ligan's Blade Runner RPG in addition to their Alien RPG!

Taylor Swift got a lot of criticism for her new album, but "The Fate of Ophelia" is a bop and I can't stop listening to it.

This time, I failed to resist.

One of the annoying things about social media is that even when it's not a Nazifest like Twitter, it's still SOCIAL media, and the anxiety part of social anxiety doesn't care that the social part is just virtual.
Today I successfully resisted posting a reply on a post made by someone I follow but who does not follow me, a reply that I thought was funny but I'm pretty sure would have just been embarrassing and awkward to everyone else, especially the person I was going to reply to.

So, you know, go me.

I feel everyone should have a favorite Burgess Shale creature.

Mine, of course, is Anomalocaris.

This is pretty much how the executive presentation at today's big meeting at work went, too.

I'm hiding in back of the big conference room buying eBooks. I had no idea @chriswarcraft.bsky.social wrote a scifi novel, so naturally I had to get it.

Well, today is off to a good start. It's another one of those quarterly big meetings where I am stuck wearing the ouchie (but cute!) shoes again in a room crammed full of people. Only this time, they didn't even have a name tag for me and I had to get a perfunctory dashed-off handwritten one.

Last I might I dreamt that I met @marthawells.com in person, and embarrassed myself trying to pronounce "Ile-Rien", because even in my dreams I'm a socially-awkward dork, apparently.
