What was good/interesting about cohost?
I've only ever checked out a few personal blogs there without even using my account and I didn't really "get" it, it felt very similar to Livejournal or WordPress to me, but I see people remembering it with a lot of fondness

The format supports that for sure, it's their rules that don't support it... (can only speculate as to why, perhaps because of iOS rendering issues or some overly safe interpretation of varying international legal requirements for captioning – or maybe, indeed, they just don't care)

But this probably only works on some devices, e.g. iOS infamously has strict guidelines on subtitle formats (which is actually super convenient as this lets me download VTT versions of the sub files that are served as images in the web player)

This isn't really because of anime, it's for any Japanese content on their services, of which anime is not a majority. Netflix just states in their subtitling rules, roughly: "since Japanese allows vertical text, use it when the subtitle would otherwise overlap with something important on screen"

Having slept for a grand total of two weird dream shallow sleep hours because of anxiety, I'm already feeling completely drained on the ferry, and I still have (checks notes) 15-25 hours of travel in front of me, depending on luck

It's like you're trading one pattern of bad sleep for another, and to be honest it's almost better without any meds as at least the daytime isn't affected that much, even if I dread going to sleep every night

Amitriptyline had little effect on the earlier half of the sleep but seemingly I had a deeper latter half, doxepine is the reverse. The second half is full of reality-based and thus confusing dreams, I wake up multiple times, and in the mornings I feel like absolute hell. Sleep meds suck.

Two nights after stopping amitriptyline were hell (maybe I should try it again but with a much slower dosage increase, but to be honest the effect was meh anyway), now trying doxepine, no additional drowsiness during the day, uninterrupted sleep for first 4-5 hours, then shit gets really crazy...
