Just the pure aesthetics of the word. It's so bland and alienating. The contrast of 'user' which is like the most inhuman and generic way to to refer to someone, and 'story' which is round and playful. Almost child-like.

It's a term that feels like its talking down to whom it refers.

I have an ergo keyboard, expensive task chair, adjustable keyboard shelf I can angle perfectly. I've spent a TON of time on ergo stuff. It's the only reason I can still work at all.

Underlying problem is that I have ligament laxity. Doctor has told me only long term solution is less computer.

I'm told the correct procedure here is to close all the forums but one, and make that one forum (which regular people can't post to) contain a locked thread directing users to the community space you can actually control.

I used to do this as well. The issue is that it actually just attracts more trolls. People who turn fucking with you into their hobby have more time to burn than you do. It's a losing business proposition in the end.

If you do this ruthlessly and consistently, people who can have polite conversation will actually come out of the woodwork and use/enjoy the space.

This is not the most effective way to moderate a steam forum. This just gives trolls what they want, attention and reaction from you.

Post clear pinned rules on what gets a ban.

Delete trash, Ban easy, place nothing in the 'why you were banned' message.

Trolls get nothing.

If you're like 'why is Anton so spicy this week', a good chunk of it is that I'm in -constant- RSI pain in my arm. It flares up periodically and the only way to make it go away is for me to just.. not use a computer for 3-4 weeks. And I won't have time to do that for over a year.
