My monograph On Tyranny and the Global Legal Order (2021) considers that as the global legal order gathers ever more power to itself, it becomes imperative to ask whether tyranny lurks at the global scale?

Discusses tyrannicide & tyrannophobia - bit too relevant

Any interesting examples of division and/or checks on power that is not tripartite or is otherwise interesting in any constitutions/public law/federal etc., systems out there?

I've found Taiwan

A reminder, with apologies to those who have read it before, that I wrote a short Gist in 2023 on the current AG’s arguments against individual citizens’ rights to compensation from the State, even where they have been wronged.

I am so upset.

Last week Time Magazine solicited a piece from me on Zohran Mamdani & anti-Muslim hate. I pitched a framing re the dehumanization of Muslims & how Mamdani’s inclusive, socialist campaign in its content resists that. They agreed. I wrote the piece. 1/
To be asked to write about racism only to be racially aggressed in the editing process is a new level unlocked I have to say.

This piece is very good - blaming women for dissent into #tyranny while also saying that women in power are always #tyrants & should be deposed is long established from Ancient Greece -
but as this piece also mentions John Knox's the Monstrous Regiment of Women is one its most vindictive takes.
"The piece is the modern-day equivalent of sixteenth-century Scottish preacher John Knox’s celebrated polemic, The First Blast of the Trumpet Against the Monstruous Regiment of Women."
