I say this with the bluntness it requires: they will get people murdered if this continues. This is not just populism anymore either: it’s completely unhinged and a deliberate choice that does endanger lives. I am not saying this lightly at all.

A small fire at the front of the bookshop was started last night after rubbish bags that were awaiting collection were set on fire. The guards don’t have reason at this time to believe it was a targeted attack. Thankfully the damage was limited and everyone is safe. We are open for business as usual

That the Irish Government did not have to do the *exact* same thing both shows a lack of understanding of #internationallaw but also that Irish Constitutional law already contains its own Bill of Rights - that binds the Gov & unlike the UK cannot be altered without a referendum 3/3

The #Wolfson Report also argues that the #BillofRights for #NorthernIreland was intended to replace ECHR rights at some point - there is no evidence for this - it was intended to extend and be contextual to Northern Ireland 2/3

The Wolfson Report treats #NorthernIreland and the international legal commitments of the UK Government - which are very clearly spelled out in the #1998Agreement - as mere political agreements.
Once again it is a Treaty & requires #ECHR rights - not UK versions of them
