Oh I missed that! So it wasn't the gummies at all specifically?
applefranca.bsky.social
Those are very British looking chips!

I kind of just feel the way this presented as both a light hearted story but also just casually throws in there that he's lucky to have survived is quite odd.

I would like more information. Doctors said 'it could have killed him' - really? How?

Like, sugar wise an adult human should be able to deal with that, unless you're diabetic, no? Can you actually glue your intestines together with gelatin, as is implied?

Aren't all tampons vegan? It's a bit like gluten free oats

I'm going through all sorts of menopause nonsense at the moment and am having a good experience so far

Yeah, appreciate that. I do have some things I see the same doctor for. But others I don't care, I just want to be seen quick.

Sorry to hear you've not been well.

I appreciate there might be other factors that mean they actually have less demand per registered person (students generally young and healthy), but surely having loads of doctors, properly supported by admin is part of why it's running smoothly.
applefranca.bsky.social
I think they kind of are though? I'm at the uni there are like twenty doctors, being able to get a same day appointment rarely a problem, if you don't mind which doctor. They also have a proper reception team so you can get through and speak to someone without waiting

That's was I was going to say, Klein is fine i thought!

I've seen some of these photos reused in what I assumed was a parody but they are the actual pictures !

The photography in this article really feels like The Times are deliberately setting these people up for ridicule. (You can read it without visiting The Times here archive.ph/KZZC1)
An article from The Times: "Meet the young Tories dreaming of a bright blue future". Featuring bizarre portraits of Charles Amos, Rhys Benjamin and Daniel Campbell.

Hard agree. I have a second instagram that I follow a few fitness people on and the recommended posts are very weird and eating disordery
hansmollman.bsky.social
My other piping hot take is that a lot of men in the fitness and health food space have what are basically eating disorders that if women were displaying similar behaviours (and rightly so probably!) would have people concerned but they are given a pass for male authority figure reasons

Has anyone done an explainer/ informed opinion from a cycling and walking perspective on the fountain bridge consultation yet?

Another go at trying to make the south sub trains happen, by HW uni this time forms.gle/6d2VseikCKhv...

Being able to get to Porty, fort kinnaird and murrayfield on public transport without going through the city centre would be a game changer for me
Reopening the South Sub: Have your say!
Background The Edinburgh South Suburban Railway (South Sub) opened in 1884 as part of the Suburban Circle, serving Edinburgh’s southern suburbs. It had 7 stations, Gorgie, Craiglockhart, Morningside,...

Ah ok, fair enough. Hope you find what you're looking for

Hi Lucy, I hope you're well. Searching your name and replying to 5 months old skeets (in replies as well) from people with barely any followers is maybe not the healthiest thing to do.

I'm sorry that silk/poly thing has stuck in my head, you're certainly not on your own

My favourite thing about the latest 'everything is about America' guy is that he has a European flag

Announcing this on a board where Americans are in the fight of their lives against a fascist takeover may be a pointer....

I need to look that up cos I can't visualise it at all 😂

I think the problem with this one was that the placket is v narrow so the buttonhole *just* fits into it and it was butting up against the edges where the seam allowances meant it was four layers of fabric plus two layers of interfacing
applefranca.bsky.social
Finished! Will take better pictures obviously but liking this a lot despite the comedy of errors! It's the seamwork jo and the fabric is tencel will from Minerva

applefranca.bsky.social
I fixed the collar! I can live with the rest
applefranca.bsky.social
This dress I've been making is turning into a series of unfortunate events

The fabric is a lovely tencel but it is (1) slinky (2) frayey. Using something nice and stable next

#garmentSewing
One side of the collar is about two cms higher than the other

Also all the topstitching is super wonky but that's not necessarily unusual 3 of 4 buttonholes failed on first go so have a line of failed stitching next to them. This also means they are no longer evenly spaced This is one sleeve. The dashes on the sleeve bit go vertical This is the other sleeve. The dashes go horizontal

On a less moany note, the strands was satisfying today, weird American spelling notwithstanding
