And like, we see most of Robotnik's efforts either go to waste or turn back on him.

Maybe him being his worst enemy is him realizing that he's the lesser half of the two geniuses (which would then add into the nihilism he has by the SA1 arc).

Considering Robotnik is created by an accident, maybe deep down, he felt like he shouldn't exist and that's why he wants conquest.

Because he doesn't want to believe he shouldn't exist.

Like, imagine a story where Robotnik keeps being reminded about how much better Kintobor made Shanazar and that the citizens even talk about him behind his back (or at least think they can).

How much of a failure Robotnik specifically is in comparison.

Man, I remember getting good enough that in White City at the start where everyone runs up to get on their Gears, I can turn around, run backwards until I fall off, get blown back on course, and still win.

It's weird hearing that this arc is getting close to an end since it's just that much closer to SA1.

On that note, I don't know how far in advance this podcast is recorded, but I need Chris to say "Ah yeah! This is happenin'!" in his Sonic voice when you get there.
