In the light of the Gaiman controversy, I find myself deeply conflicted. I’ve always been a huge and very vocal fan/ supporter of his work, so all this coming out is making me feel completely awful. It reinforces just how little you can truly know a public persona, and while learning the truth in 1/

Contemporary is probably my favourite, but I’m a real sucker for futuristic, too. Historical is the one I could probably do without. I find myself reaching for it the least.

It’s not that you have too many books. It’s that you don’t have enough bookshelves.

First of all #fuckJKR

But HP - specifically book 6 - first got me into reading as a hobby, and for that I’ll always be grateful. It’s the series that taught me magic is real - and it’s in things called books.

This review got a little more raw than I meant it to; but it’s genuine words for what I know is a genuine piece of (phenomenal) work.

What’s a book or series that you read as a kid that almost nobody seems to read or remember these days?

We read this in school and it was my absolute favourite. I read it independently years later and loved it still. Such an untapped well. There should be an adaptation!!

It’s nearly December: the time of year I have to knuckle down and start only picking up the half-finished books on my ‘currently-reading’ GR shelf so I can have a clean slate for the new year 🙄

So hard to choose! I’m a sucker for dragons, but then the 12-year-old in me wants to say vampires. I also have a soft spot for mermaids, and don’t get me started on anything alien! But then, fae???

Yeah, this is a tough one!

What novels changed the way you see the world in the long-term?

The Bluest Eye (Morrison), The Book of Negroes (Hill), Moby-Dick (Melville), American Psycho (Ellis), Long Division (Laymon), The Girl Who Wrote Loneliness (Shin), and Mansfield Park (Austen) are all on my list

📚💙
Honestly once you learn to read the world through Moby-Dick, it takes over your brain

I get why my grandpa wrote a whole book about it while he was incarcerated

I think I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, #Pageboy by Elliot Page really is the most well-written memoir I’ve ever read. The writing is beautiful, almost poetic. He has a real gift.

Also, I wanna watch Whip It again. Love that movie.
