This time of year, I love watching the insect activity on asters. I spotted a similar wasp, Golden Reined Digger [Sphex Habenus] for the first time recently! She was working the flowers on Boneset. Such a beauty.

Blonde dog on an Asian rug of similar color. Photo is taken from in front of the dog beginning with his front paws; his head is laying on his legs, slightly to the side and he's giving me a look. He's very camera shy. This fellow was a stray living in the woods and on the road near us so, one day, my husband opened the car door and he jumped right in and became an instant family member. He was thin, had skin sores, a collar that was too tight and had sores under it where the hair had worn away. He is frightened of odd things like the sound of a striking match, gunshot sounds, movements too quickly with broom or rake... I'm glad we were able to give him a new life.

Vertical image nearly devoid of color even though it was shot in color. It's the dark interior of a very old room in an early 19th century building. A beaded-board ceiling slopes down to a wall of fake brick made of tin sheeting, which then meets up with vertical beaded board siding which emerges from the darkness below. All surfaces are scratched and scraped and very much worn by age. The floor is unseen, hidden in the inky darkness. My shadow is projected against the wall, indistinct, soft and blurry... ghostlike. It's ironic that this creepy image was made in a building at a religious convent.

Really struggling with happy in the middle of this mess. It ebbs and flows but mostly gets all backed up. Everything seems trivial in comparison to the larger picture but then someone like @breeze420.bsky.social comes along and gives me the push I need.

Xenta, I am so sorry. I keep you and Tsybulka in my heart as I go about my peaceful little section of this earth and am reminded of just how fortunate I am, even in the midst of my country's dangerous dysfunction. My heart breaks.

I love it too! If I had taken that image with my good camera at a higher res, it would have made such an interesting and surreal landscape cropped and flipped like this...

Monochrome image taken from inside my truck. The 2-lane highway stretches out in front of me, wet from storms and reflecting meager light from the cloudy sky. The road is lined with bare trees and cemetery grave markers on the left and small power poles and wire on the right and both reoccur as reflections upon the hood of my black truck in the foreground of the photo. The soft black of the ground surrounding the road emphasizes the traverse of the highway leading us forward into the image. In the distance, a ridge line of high hills form the horizon.
