no one is willing to be genuinely radical about #adoption—to go to the root of it. we criticize calling adoption “trafficking” so we can evade the truth that adoption is chattelization. we marketize parenthood. we re-engineer children’s very identities for the sake of fulfilling our own dreams.
almost no one looks squarely at #adoption as a central issue of children’s rights. Even people who see themselves as espousing the most radical left liberationist stance toward the rights of children to affirm their voices & identities typically ignore how adoption denies this right to children.

this is something that affects children from reproductive materials donation as well. i have a hereditary and chronic immune disease that presented in my late 20s with no warning that does not exist on my known parent’s side
this is one of the biggest rage points for adoptees about anonymity in #adoption. And it's a harm that propagates generationally forward. It was when awareness dawned that my lack of family health history meant my children would lack family health history that I finally decided to search.
Another fun day of being unable, as a public health biologist, to provide actionable data to a health provider because post-WW2 shame of illegitimacy sealed my adoption records and birth certificate, and still actively prevents my access to family medical history in the year of our Lord 2025.

extremely relieved this is the response & we don’t have to contend with the revelation of 50501 being a project to covertly mainstream antisemitism. this is the learning we all need to be doing to prevent antisemites using the language of ‘anti-zionism’ to co-opt & distort liberatory sentiment
