The Republican Congress has largedly done this to itself, but it got a hefty helping hand from CJ Roberts and the SCOTUS majority.

When Democrats sweep both houses in 2026, assuming we're still allowed to vote freely then, they need to address both Trump's overreach and SCOTUS' failures.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

9th Cir. grants an administrative stay blocking Judge Immergut's order that the National Guard not be federalized, but notes that bc DOJ didn't appeal her second order forbidding their deployment the effect is that the NG can be federalized during continuing litigation, but not deployed to Portland.

WGN, this woman’s employer, is now reporting she was not charged with any crimes and was released.

DHS said earlier she was arrested for assault for throwing objects at agents.

Finally, the Court notes its concern about a third declaration submitted by Defendants, in
which the declarant asserted that the FPS “requested federalized National Guard personnel to
support protection of the Federal District Court on Friday, October 10, 2025.” Doc. 62-3. This
purported fact was incendiary and seized upon by both parties at oral argument. It was also
inaccurate, as the Court noted on the record. To their credit, Defendants have since submitted a
corrected declaration, and the affiant has declared that they did not make the error willfully. Doc.

And, by the way, the whole point of providing UACs with counsel in removal proceedings where noncitizens don't have a general right to counsel was to avoid due process challenges.

The grants were a way to *facilitate* their removal proceedings (and subsequent, likely removals).

This case concerns the Government’s statutory and
regulatory obligations to ensure that unaccompanied
children in immigration proceedings have legal
representation. Earlier this year, the Government abruptly
halted funding for its only program ensuring legal
representation for unaccompanied children. Plaintiffs
brought this lawsuit arguing that the Government is failing
to meet its statutory and regulatory obligations and that the
Government’s actions were arbitrary and capricious. The
district court agreed, and we declined to stay the district
court’s preliminary injunction pending appeal.
Our dissenting colleagues attempt to reframe Plaintiffs’
suit as a breach of contract action against the Government,
which could only be brought in the Court of Federal Claims.
We respectfully disagree.

So this IL Hospital Association memo describes an incident where ICE detained a US citizen, gave them HEART PROBLEMS, took them to a hospital where the fought with medical personnel, then left when they realized they detained a CITIZEN.
