Um, that is CLEARLY Eminem, not Backstreet Boys. FBI in shambles.
For FBI personnel whose jobs entail the handling of all sorts of docs, anything Epstein related they were pulled into generated responses filled with dread & comedy, according to internal message chats

“Epstein’s back, back again … (do you hear Backstreet Boys)?” one person wrote.

I dunno. This is one where Wikipedia keeps calling it "the first single" but Discogs lists only a "limited edition"? I'm counting it as one of my 15.

Just in case you're not aware: 1) a lazaretto is building or ship used to quarantine maritime travelers, and 2) Jack White is a guitar player of some note who can really shred but also a strong songwriter!

A gut punch with today's ICE Air flight at MSP - I thought we were going to make it the whole day without a flight for the first time since January 5th, but one popped up this evening.

66 detainees boarded today - the most we've seen in the last ten days.

3,137 are represented on this graph.

Alt-country is pretty well represented in the Best Album of 2001 bracket parade so far, but this by my estimation is pretty much the only thing that could possibly be classified as "not-alt" country, and even it is borderline alt.

Thought I was done writing about the bullshit that outside media says about S.F.

But this pair — making fun of unhoused people in wheelchairs — coaxed me out of retirement.

On loving the city, and the fragility of visiting adult male Patriots fans.

Day 4 - "Hollywood Nights," Bob Seger

Moving on to songs about flings that fizzled. This is a classic of the genre. That poor Midwestern boy on his own didn't know what hit him.

Sorry, folks. Looks we had two #readandplay prompts today. I try to check and make sure @savemeaseat.bsky.social hasn't already done one before I click the ol' Post button, and today it slipped my mind. Feel free to do either one (or both!) today, and we'll try to avoid double posts in the future!

Remember her name: Aliya Rahman

Her testimony is everything and it deserves to be heard, by everyone. Decide for yourself.

It’s powerful. It’s gut-wrenching. And no one should have to survive what she did.

The current exposure for the California FAIR plan (California’s insurer of last resort) sits at $724 billion. Its liability almost doubled in two years and is now more than double the state’s annual budget. In its most recent financial reporting it had about $1.5 billion on hand.

Tough choice between this & "Dance Yrself Clean," which will probably get an HM. I went with the dumb, short one with an all-time metaphor: "Love is an astronaut. It comes back but it's never the same."

Day 3 - "Pretty Girl from Cedar Lane," The Avett Brothers

This is one of at least 10 songs in the "Pretty Girl from ..." series that the Avetts have done over the years. Most, if not all, end in disappointment, solitary longing and/or awkward apologies.

My Goldfrapp knowledge is spotty, so I have no clue how this stacks up to other singles from the '10s. There's probably more popular stuff from earlier in the decade? I just think that distorted synth riff is badass.

“Owie, it burns!!”

Come on, man. Shut it all down.
I recorded this today, in Portland, Oregon, at a huge march to the ICE facility in SW. The crowd was full of cyclists who had ridden there in memory of Alex Pretti; members of several labor unions; and ordinary citizens of every age, including this little girl. So of course ICE deployed tear gas.
