Pub day for How to Fake a Haunting is a little over four months away, so I’ll be posting some fun early praise for the novel as well as giveaways, preorder campaigns, and reviews as October 7th creeps ever closer!

If you feel a desire for beautiful sentences and (justified) feminine rage, I highly recommend this one: When Women Were Dragons.

It’s sweet yet politically charged and scratches an itch.
When Women Were Dragons by Kelly Barnhill. Cover photo. Excerpt from the book in which they are talking about the government cover-up of dragons but it’s also an allegory for the current US government’s attack on science.

House Republicans passed their bill that’d rip health insurance from millions and take food assistance away from millions including households with kids as young as 7 in the largest Medicaid and SNAP cuts in history - while giving giant tax cuts to the rich.

Thread on the next steps of the process.

It's crunch time. Flood the phones.

THE ONE BIG BULLSHIT BILL - details about the Republican bill that will slash funding for Medicaid, SNAP, student aid, and a number of other crucial programs and regulations. All to pay for tax cuts for the very rich.

100000% Horror is an intimate look at humanity, how we act under impossible circumstances, how we come together (or fall apart). Whether it scares you is irrelevant.

HELLO! Times, they are a dire, so forgive my gentle interruption where I ask that if you’ve read STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS — or any book by any author! — it’d be great if you left a review of it somewhere. And tell friends! Tell family! Tell the whole internet! Tell a random bird! Birds like books too.

Happiest Book Birthday to @chuckwendig.bsky.social's The Staircase in the Woods! 🖤 I didn't let Vesper read it because it is too scary for her but she is disconcerted anyway. Also this book is excellent.
A curving wooden staircase containing a copy of The Staircase in the Woods and a silver tabby cat staring off into the distance with wide eyes as though she has seen or heard something surprising? Frightening? Maybe just a bird? Either way the book is fantastic if not for kittens.

Several new followers recently (I feel like maybe I should be worried?) But HELLO! I write things! Mostly spooky, but also mysterious and sometimes sad but always queer.

Glad to have you!

Dear @amyklobuchar.com and @smith.senate.gov,

When this comes up for a vote, maybe don't give your support to the lady who lied on her resume and regularly misrepresents her credentials.

Several months ago, someone brilliant pointed out that Trump’s EOs are designed to terrify people even though they are not the law and most will never take effect.

Keep that in mind.

One week, the staircase appears.

I am obliged in the midst of the chaos and fuckery of our current era to remind you to preorder THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS from, ideally, your favorite indie bookstore, because indies rule. Also, there's Bookshop-dot-org, Kobo, Libro-dot-fm! Please and thank you!
THE STAIRCASE IN THE WOODS book cover without its cover text -- it's a creepy image of a spiral staircase in the woods connected to nothing, ascending to nowhere, and on the railing is a crow or blackbird, and it's saying in a word bubble, SOON. The image is cast in a jaundiced haze except for a square of black and white with a blue line in the center that was an accident of the image when editing but I thought "hey that's neat" and I kept it, oh well. At the bottom is the text 4/29/25 indicating the date of the book's release. The cover is by THE BOLAND DESIGN COMPANY. Published by Del Rey Books
