When I was in my early 20s, I’d go to Waffle House with my band after gigs. However, our drummer couldn’t come with us because he’d been banned from the local WH, presumably for some kind of drunken nonsense. Sorry, Randy. More pecan waffles for the rest of us.

I’d had my dining room table leaf in for well over a year because it was slightly stuck after I refinished the top. Of course it ended up being super easy to unstick and now we’re boggled by all the extra room we have.

I made a fruitcake because my dad and spouse didn’t like the expensive one I bought from some monastery in central Kansas. The homemade one weighs 5 pounds and it’s currently being infused with rum for a couple of weeks.

The dog and I went to bed before 9pm and she’s still asleep 30 minutes past her breakfast time. Yesterday was exhausting for us both.

Today I cooked for several hours, loaded up my car and drove 25 minutes to my sister’s house. Within 20 minutes, the power went out, so we had breakfast, loaded the car and moved the party to my house. 1/

I’m finished in the kitchen for today. I followed up the rum cakes with a loaf of limpa bread and a double batch of almond toffee. Tomorrow I’ll make a half recipe of mac and cheese (we have a lot of side dishes planned).
