Moved by his ancestors, Ken Johnston walked 265 kilometres through southern Ontario, following the Underground Railroad path of early Black settlers.

@balkissoon.bsky.social tells the story behind the story in our latest newsletter:

Hope is political, scrappy and scarred. It’s been through the trenches with every capitalist racist boot to the face, it crawls out bloodied and keeps moving. It’s not fragile or fleeting it’s forward-looking. Hope is rage, grief and love metabolized into collective action.

That’s why it’s feared.

Write to Mayor and Council: ICE out of Vancouver!

www.votecope.ca/no-ice

It's vitally important that our municipal government take a clear stand against any potential ICE presence here during the World Cup this summer.

Let’s make sure it’s a unanimous vote at City Council.

250 people are about to be displaced because of FIFA. The City says that they will be offered alternate spaces but where are said spaces? WHY are they not available NOW? The risk of cold-related injuries in March is very high. Where are people to go?

If you aren't from Minnesota, don't listen to what the media is telling you, listen to what people who live here are saying.
Someone was abducted at 10 AM by ICE on Central Ave. Their coworker says they’ve lived here for over 20 years, are documented, and have 3 kids who were born here.

Don’t be fooled by headlines when they’ve been lying to us the whole time. We still need you out patrolling until every agent is gone.

My most recent visit to Tumbler Ridge was this past fall. They’ve built a whole science centre and greatly expanded their tourism offerings. Town’s been through some recent wildfires, too. UNESCO recognized area.

I hope you will consider visiting them in better times

During critical emergencies such as this horrific act of violence in the community of Tumbler Ridge news should be available to all, and not behind a pay wall. I found it difficult finding consistent coverage off social media about what’s become Canada’s and British Columbia’s worst school shooting.
