The ACM Digital Library, where a LOT of computing-related research is published (I'd say at least 75% of my own publications), is now not only providing (without consent of the authors and without opt-in by readers) AI-generated summaries of papers, but they appear as the *default* over abstracts.

All converted media is trans media. When you go from JPEG to PNG, the image doesn't fundamentally change; the only reason we call it something different is that we have an objective understanding of what each format is.

Just got this from the Canadian government:

Statement from Global Affairs Canada, which is in a bulleted list, reads: • Global Affairs Canada is aware of reports that a group of Canadians, including parliamentarians, were denied entry into the West Bank. • While Global Affairs Canada regrets the decision, the group was travelling independently and was not representing the Government of Canada. • Canada continues to advocate for the easing of movement restrictions into and throughout Palestinian territory. • Israel controls access to the West Bank and determines its own entry requirements, including decisions on entry and exit through its borders. The Government of Canada cannot intervene in these decisions. • We encourage Canadians to consult the Travel Advice and Advisories at travel.gc.ca for the latest information on entry and exit requirements. • Our missions in the region are in regular contact with the delegation. • Due to privacy considerations, no further information will be disclosed.
