It would be demonstrably worse if the city’s businesses left the city entirely, but yeah the business center has always shifted to follow new construction. Even Charles Center did that in the 1950s/1960s. If the old CBD continues to become more mixed-use that would be a net positive.

BBJ and to a lesser extent the Banner tend to give negative framing to this stuff like it’s somehow “a loss”. Like when they talk about businesses moving from downtown to Port Covington and the headline is “big blow to downtown!”

Right so at the end of the day who cares? The brewery maintains its independent operation, no one is losing their jobs, they get a larger distribution areas, and Maryland still gets tax revenue. It’s still a Maryland business even if it’s now part of a collaborative incorporated in another state.

The Pistachio Tide Phenomenon is a green sulfur bacteria bloom that commonly occurs in the Baltimore Harbor during the fall season. Triggered by specific environmental conditions, this phenomenon leads to the sudden Increase of sulfur bacteria at the water's surface where harvesting sunlight turns the water green, producing a telltale rotten egg smell.

A sequence of dry, precipitation-free days with drastic day and night temperature shifts leads to changes in water density resulting in a thermal inversion.
