I have no idea if it is true, but we do know that Farage is a Tr*mp worshipper and it is likely he has created a cult-like organisation, much like MAGA where loyalty to the inner circle far outweighs public service and ethics. This story fits that narrative.

They also seem to feel invulnerable to any personal liability. That is what needs to change. Each one is individually breaking the law when they assault and kidnap citizens and the local police need to protect their communities by investigating the assaults as crimes and arresting those responsible.

Depends where you go. Some areas in the North are quite pro-Tr*mp. So if you are going to a place where there is a strong leaning towards Lega or Fratelli d'Italia, I'd wear a MAGA hat!

They are both good candidates in my view. I think Phillipson is doing a good job as Education Secretary, and that's a full time job. That will be my main consideration.

And that's the problem. Without even being anywhere near power, Farage and Badenoch, by their mere presence in UK politics will make EU leaders very wary of engaging in any talk about joining the EU again.

Badenoch deliberately amplifying the lie.

This is important to know and understand.

Jenrick is lying. Again.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.

But this is an outright lie. Pure fabrication. A fraud on the public.

I would like to think there's room for Farage on that spaceship. If all seems a bit 'one step forward, two steps back' at the moment. Decency reigned in America for a while then Tr*mp somehow got back and he's worse than he ever was. 2024 in UK gave hope of a better future but polling looks bleak.

Perhaps, like Kash Patel in the US administration, it is a case of overcompensating for her lack of whiteness? I always felt Braverman and Priti Patel believed they had to do the same to 'fit in' with those on their chosen political journey.

I checked the article carefully and I saw no quote from Mahmood saying it was aimed at the Gaza protestors. The Guardian implied that, but it could just as easily be focusing on the far right thugs protecting outside hotels where asylum seekers are in refuge?

We have to keep our backs firmly against the rightward movement of that Overton Window.

I suggest this ill - thought out proscription by Cooper has created many more supporters. People who had never heard of an organisation called 'Palestine Action' before now see this as the main group to rally behind in order to protest against the killing of civilians in Gaza.

10 years ago, millions of people wanted to vote for traditional Tory MPs like Justine Greening, Dominic Grieve, Kenneth Clarke, Anna Soubry, Amber Rudd, Theresa May, Oliver Letwin, David Gauke, Philip Hammond, David Lidington, all of whom would be appalled by Reform. Where do centre right voters go?

As a university lecturer I see my most important job now is to really help young people develop good critical thinking skills, which essentially means being sceptical and fact checking what they see and hear.

That solid gold bauble they gave 'Tr*mp' didn't protect them then?

She is irritatingly confrontational. Very hard to listen to.
bardolino.bsky.social
Is she talking about 'Dame Jenkyns'?

Just to add, the Met Commissioner Mark Rowley is the first decision maker, and unless he believes the march would cause serious disorder he must not ask for it to be banned. The Home Secretary cannot overrule him even if she wants it banned, as Braverman angrily discovered!
bardolino.bsky.social
If Panorama can install an undercover reporter to identify and expose misconduct, why can't the Met's own Professional Standards Dept do the same? Vetting within the workplace needs to be ongoing and intrusive In order to protect those officers who are abused by colleagues, as well as the public.

He's free to say or write what he likes. Everyone can watch the conference on YouTube so he can report it without annoying the delegates. Jones openly hates Starmer and the current Labour Party, which is perfectly legitimate, but why should they let him come just to hassle and upset the delegates?
bardolino.bsky.social
Very good speech. No pandering to the far right and so-called 'legitimate concerns'. They are racist when they throw bricks at asylum seekers or daub 'go home' on corner shops, and Starmer was confident and unequivocal in his condemnation of Farage and those who incite division and hatred.
