A local specimen of an agaricus mushroom given the chocolate-brown gills which are free from the stalk. Since the base of the stalk bruises yellow and has a strong phenol-like odour, I’m fairly confident this is likely a poisonous Flat-Top Agaricus. 🍄‍🟫

Practiced a bit of amateur mycology in identifying this local mushroom: After taking a spore print and consulting local handbooks I’m fairly confident it’s a cortinarius cinnamomeus aka a Cinnamon Cortinarius. Apparently they can be used to produce a brown dye. 🍄‍🟫

A comment on itch reminded me of this idea for creating #TTRPG dungeons I had a while back. I still think its neat and I don't think I've actually shared it here on bsky.

So bsky.. meet Crossword Dungeons!
Do a crossword, use the answers and designs as inspiration for the rooms, get creative!
a how to guide for creating crossword dungeons. Step 1 - Find and Do, do the crossword. Step 2 - See Beyond, find the inspiring words and start to see the shape. Step 3 - Extrapolate, ditch words you dont like, create walls, you contol the dungeon. Step 4 - Draw the rest of the owl (make the dungeon from the inspiration). Step 5 - BE NOT AFRAID. Its just a dungeon created from a crossword, they wont always work. Useful tips: Metro for daily free crosswords. CrosswordSolver, for tricky clues. DungeonScrawl, for making maps. LootTheRoom - for more random ideas

Our #grandforksadventure has concluded. We made it back home safe and sound. Huzzah!

During this trip, aside from acquiring photos and memories, I was also keeping a notebook of TTRPG inspirations, including a rough hexmap with encounters based around our adventures around the Grand Forks region.
A small gridded paper notebook divided open by a mechanical pencil and filled with inspirations and a roughly drawn hexmap, laid out with various coloured dice and souvenirs.
