LITTLE WOMEN (2019) takes place in 1868 and towards the end of Greta Gerwig's film adaptation of the Louisa May Alcott book, Jo March is offered $25 for her story.

Over 150 years later, those rates haven't improved much.

Last time I checked my current rate at one publisher was $70 less than my starting rate there almost 20 years ago, when accounting for inflation. It'll be even worse now.
The one about comic book page rates – again. News flash: Comic book page rates are STILL stagnant, after all these years, and for indie cartoonists it's even harder

Page rates for comics creators have remained stagnant for decades.

Men continue to write female characters as objectified and sexualized fantasies for the Big Two.

EVERYTHING IS JUST GREAT.

I think it’s time to put this one back out into the ether, friends

Come and learn about how the tropes undergirding anti-Jewish hatred and conspiracy theories as they exist today came to be…
The Antisemitism Post (tm)
Gotta get the history to know where the tropes live in the discourse today.

You're told it'll sabotage your career if you're a vocally politically opinionated, queer, woman. But things sabotaging my career are systemic xenophobia, sexism, and horrible job market. Which are a direct consequences of people not being vocally opinionated in the first place.

I have a goofy picture and say dumb things on here, but this is serious.

If a book comes out with a character you love, and you don't like the book, don't pick up the next issue. It's that simple.

DO NOT harass a creator for doing their job.

You don't like their take? Save your cash, and get a latte.

I KNOW these characters are important to people, but they're NOT more important than the REAL humans who write and draw them.

Remember that there are REAL people behind those words and pictures, and you don't have the right to treat them poorly because you feel they've slighted you.

Think you can do it better? That's why fan fic exists. Explore your own canon in your own way, but DO NOT go after creators.

End rant.
