The more I hear about the Gripens, the more I like them.
Yes they are sitting ducks on the ground.
One bomb or missile strike on the runway(s) and the F35s can no longer take off or land.
They need 8,000ft minimum to take off when armed & fuelled for combat.
The Gripen needs less than 2,000ft fully loaded for landings. Less for take offs.
Roads work too.

The best info is that all the current F-35 operators are struggling maintain a 50% availability rate. It doesn't matter how good tech tech is if they can't fly. They are sitting ducks on the ground. In WWII the term was "hangar queen".

What happens if 3 or 4 single seniors decide to live together, a la The Golden Girls? Is that a household? I can tell you my retirement financial planning includes OAS. I'm GenX though, so used to getting screwed over by the Boomers financially.
