I work in the building trades in BC. I work on O&G projects, pipelines, LNG plants, and in refineries. It pays my bills, provides for my family, and allows us to live a decent life.

Even I don't want another goddamn oil pipeline.

🧵
Canada should be focused on nation-building. Instead we are getting sucked into a needless pipeline war to appease Moe and Danielle Smith.
If the PM tries to kill the tanker ban without consulting BC premier Eby or First Nations he will be in for the fight of his life.
And he will lose.

the incoming Albertan Annexation crisis is going to be this on steroids imo
it was funny watching American pundits act like the day after Greenland annexation would be status quo

Polls like this make me so frustrated. The Liberals and, even moreso the NDP, have GOT to figure out how to reach young people. There is zero reason Conservatives should be polling like this except for their opponents clearly not understanding or embracing what they should stand for.

Steve Bannon is now openly talking about taking Alberta as the 51rst State, saying it's all he needs right now, instead of all of Canada. I live in Alberta. We will fight this.

Bannon:  Canada is in the vital national security interest of the US.  This is inextricably linked to Hemispheric Defense. Hemispheric Defense for the US starts in Canada. Canada's rapidly changing,  these people are hostile to the US. Not neutral. They're hostile to the United States of America.
NBC: Trump has privately intensified criticism of Canada, arguing it is too weak to defend its Arctic territory from Russia and China. He’s urging higher defense spending and deeper U.S.–Canada Arctic cooperation. Unlike Greenland, Trump is not seeking to acquire Canada or deploy U.S. troops there.

“those safe from fascism and its practices are likely to think that there might be a benefit in exchanging ideas with fascists. What for such a privileged group is a matter of a potentially productive difference in opinion is, for many of us, a matter of basic survival.”

Truly, all of us are frayed at the edges and barely holding on, several us bawled over these and knowing how many people want to help, this is what keeps us going. We're in this together.

Find the things you can do and do them. Keep doing that. That's it.
Mr. Rogers said "look for the helpers," we all know this, but I would push that further - ALMOST EVERYONE wants to be a helper. People with training and/or proximity show up, and people sitting at home feel helpless wondering what they can do. In our experience, most people just need to know how.

For this post to be about the United States and not Russia shows that there has been an absolute diplomatic revolution.
I spoke to the Secretary-General of NATO, Emmanuel Macron, Keir Starmer, Friedrich Merz and Giorgia Meloni.

Together we stand firm in our commitment to uphold the sovereignty of Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark.

How is this not foreign interference!!!!!

“the U.S. would recognize an independent Alberta immediately after it announced it was breaking away from Canada…He claimed a promise from the U.S. State Department to help Alberta establish its military during the early days of nationhood.”

This is basically it. This is why all the "why are those other countries taking this so seriously don't they know he's full of hot air" comments miss the point, they can't afford to!
I think the disconnect between Atlantic elites is that Americans think Donald Trump is a kid getting to drive a monster truck for Make A Wish and Europeans and Canadians think Donald Trump is the president of the United States.

Miller: Denmark is a tiny country with a tiny economy and a tiny military. They cannot defend Greenland… Under every understanding of law that has existed about territorial control for 500 years, to control a territory you have to be able to defend a territory…

They're called accelerationists for a reason
We keep talking about the midterms as if we're very sure of the issues that are going to decide them, but I think about where the country was a month ago and where it is now, and I honestly can't begin to (and don't want to) imagine the world we'll be living in come November.
