One of the biggest honors that has come my way in my career was being able to give the Margaret MacMillan Lecture at Trinity College, University of Toronto, on Wednesday night. I am grateful to Prof. MacMillan and everyone I met at Trinity, including the wonderful students.

I urge everyone to call GOP legislators and put this question to them. Trump is their president and they support him in lock step. They need to be held accountable for what this means. Don't let them forget it, don't led them run and hide.

I have made repeated calls to the offices of GOP New York Representatives Lawler and Stefanik, asking for their response to Trump wanting to use American soldiers to combat Americans who disagree with him. No response so far. Silence means support.

Update: The President of Texas A&M, the largest public university in the US, removed the Dean of the College and Chair of the English Dept just hours after coming under right-wing political pressure because a student recorded herself interrupting a lecture’s class that included topics on gender.
