Juneau rallies against kings today!
Rallying for democracy and decency in Juneau! Rainy day, but here we are!
You can run, but you can’t hide. Might as well stand and fight it out where you are.
But what I hope happens is that you learn a completely different lesson.

There is no safe ground. So you might as well stand and fight while you can.

Because fascist regimes eventually come for us all. They can not be appeased.

Make your plans for #NoKings. This Saturday, October 18th.
Free speech is action. Protestors believe that action has meaning. Protestors are exercising the rights enshrined in the Constitution. For me, protest is about love of country.
I'll be there. Please join in.

As the president escalates his authoritarian power grab, the NO KINGS non-violent movement continues to rise stronger. We are united once again to remind the world: America has No Kings and the power ...

Old enough to remember when kids being anti-semitic was the basis for a federal government assault on higher education

I’m pretty burnt out on volunteering for political campaigns but I would 💯 volunteer for a viable AK gubernatorial campaign that commits to joining this public health alliance to protect Alaskans.
Fifteen Democratic governors formed a public health alliance to counter federal agency turmoil under the Trump administration. The alliance aims to monitor disease outbreaks, establish policy guidance and buy vaccines.

Trump has a very simple worldview: the Presidency is not a public office, it is his property. He can use it to satisfy his personal or partisan whims, or to enrich himself.

So here, he threatens to reorganize an international competition, cohosted by Mexico and Canada, to settle a vendetta.

Due process. Academic freedom. An independent judiciary. A free press. A professional civil service. A protected environment. These aren't partisan talking points; they are the pillars of a healthy nation. And every single one of them is under direct assault by the Trump administration.

We are edging closer to the day when Trump orders "his" military to take out the "vermin" and "human scum" in the USA. Which, if you do not already realize it dear reader, means every person who opposes Trump (human scum) and every person who isn't a white conservative cultural Christian (vermin)
Why does MAGA hate America?

Great statement.
No “clean CR” exists when Trump defies Congress and unilaterally guts programs—from law enforcement to pediatric cancer research to clean energy projects.

Republicans want Democratic cover to keep breaking the law. Democrats won’t play along.

Yes. Never let Alaskan voters forget that Sullivan is MAGA to the core. That he’d change his position overnight if Trump changed his. That he’s a proud member of some Congressional DOGE caucus.
Voters punish representatives more for voting lock-step with their party than extreme ideology. The winning Democratic message is to bind Republicans to Trump
If you look closely, you can see signs of GOP lawmakers fearing the long-term political consequences of paying more attention to Trump's demands than to the voices of their own constituents - or consciences.

I think people underestimate the importance of local elections. Local and city governments are the last line of defense against the tyrannical regime. Please get out and vote blue in every election.

The sailors in back of him are disgracing the uniform. And I don't say that lightly.
NGL, I'm alarmed by the prospect of US Navy officers applauding the extra-judicial execution of "terrorists" (along with other parts of Trump's speech). We're watching the real-time politicization of the US military
Trump: "In recent weeks the Navy has supported our mission to blow the cartel terrorists the hell out of the water. You see that. And you know, there are no boats in the water anymore. We can't find any ... what we're doing is actually an act of kindness."

This military should not be serving as a backdrop to this kind of speech.

Trump & the GOP are not just saying they don’t want undocumented immigrants to have health care — they’re saying they don’t want millions of Americans to have health care if it means any undocumented immigrant gets cared for in an ER.

Not “pro-life”. #TrumpShutdown
