The new US National Security Strategy only reinforces what has been obvious since the Trump-Zelenskyy Oval Office debacle: the US can no longer be relied upon. British defence policy needs to catch up with this reality much faster.

Delighted to see my chapter on the British Army published in this book today. Thanks to editors Jan Hoffenaar and Brian McAllister Linn for having me along!

By providing a comparative study of NATO’s armies, this volume provides both a long-needed historical assessment and essential understanding of the problems facing the alliance and its members today.
