This is not accurate at all. Aaron Dixon, the Panther vet who originally gave them permission, said it was due to other reasons.

I think the biggest lesson to take from the Birdsong and Philly Black Panther fallout is this;
If you really think you’re doing something effective against the State and white supremacy, like you’re on their ass, don’t fucking post about it.
We’ll find out about it when you won.

The fact that so many people claimed that Birdsong was misrepresenting the Panthers, yet they had zero knowledge of the politics of the Panthers shows us something we already kind of know.
