That feeling when you scroll just a bit too far in your feed and then end up more depressed than when you got on here seeking something to lift you up—and found some sparkling moments of light and laughter—but then kept going.

Who to blame besides late stage capitalism? #amwriting

Just finished reading The No-Girlfriend Rule and kept thinking of @friede.bsky.social, all the others I know who play RPGs. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a quick, queer gamer YA novel with plenty of heart as a #summerread. #amreading #onvacation

My kingdom for paying people to do editorial labor across the board... because it's really, really, REALLY important. The scars from negative, mean, unprofessional feedback last for years/decades and are so unnecessary.

This is it. I see so many reviewers who THINK they're being really kind and generous and they're not. Enter: the editor. It's our job to buffer, to edit where we can, to support, to help sort through what's useful and what isn't. This is harder though when it's an uncompensated journal editor.
stephjayb.bsky.social
Unlike reviewers, editors know when they’re sending a review like this to a grad student, and have options about how much to share with the author. If you receive a cruel review, as an editor, there are a number of places you can go from there!

Almost up to 30 likes on the #18thcentury 2.0 feed, we love to see it. It seems like everything is behaving correctly too. So whatever you tag with #c18th, #18thC, or #c18 should show up. Appreciation to folks like @sarahmurden.bsky.social, @nguthrie.bsky.social who always keep the images coming!

Here's the ultra-short read on the Mamdani logo design www.gq.com/story/zohran...
"It's not the classic Dem blue, Republican red. We wanted [the logo to feel like] a yellow taxi cab, something that really represents New York City," said Katie Riley, Mamdani's deputy campaign manager. The wordmark was hand-drawn by graphic designer Aneesh Bhoopathy, a former member of the Queens DSA who is now based in Philadelphia. According to Riley, the design also took inspiration from city street signs and old Bollywood movie posters. "It's bright and colorful and joyful," she said.

Awww, thanks @drbibliomane.bsky.social -- I will admit I didn't expect it to take quite so long for the recreation to work, but I *think* I've got the tags right. Here's hoping it's a smooth transition as the old service provider goes away. Thanks again for making sure I saw this news!
bethanyqualls.bsky.social
I've also made a list of people who followed the OG #18thC feed for archival purposes since the old list will disappear soon. Please pin, like, share the 2.0 version if you are into feeds about cool old stuff. #c18th #18thcentury

I am and I will dig into where to move it to in the coming days! If anyone has recommendations would appreciate. I would like to find a way to have a feed that goes back more than just a few days if possible....

It's a good location, plus there's an incredible public pool fairly nearby too if you are into lap swimming with 50m outdoor awesomeness.

September should be a good time. I'll be around if you want to grab a drink or a snack sometime when you are dans le coin.
