ive been saying the thing thats wrong with the modern games industry is that everyone involved wants to make movies instead
An observation a few people made was that a lot of big western games are, visually, ashamed of being games and that kinda plays into this. Sometimes they'll mix in like 10-30% anime, and that too, is done with a sense of vague shame and embarrassment and it shows through in the end.
