anyway between this and the paladin changes in 6.3, I think it kinda sucks that they value performance in raids so much that they'll seemingly just take the path of least resistance to say "its on par with other jobs"

which its cool how endwalker made blizzard 2 like something you actually use, and even gave it an upgrade and then one expansion later you no longer use it again

you get fire IV at 60, and at that point you no longer ever sue fire 1 cuz no timers, but then you gotta put fire 1 back on your hotbar for paradox 30 levels later

also there's the whole thing where its aoe rotation is fucked and you don't ever use blizzard 2/fire 2

also like all of the dawntrail changes have made black mage a much worse and more confusing experience when leveling, so it kinda ruined how Endwalker actually improved that aspect

I think the worst thing was 7.0 black mage where they made paradox, the ability that combines ice and fire and you use it during both phases, only available in astral fire

which thankfully they reversed that, but what the fuck are they doing over there

also I dunno how I feel about raids becoming faster and faster and requiring more movement to the point that casters have to be less caster

I don't think its a huge worry right now but I'm looking at leylines and thinking they might just axe it if fight designers keep pushing for yet more movement

I've honestly been a deep dungeon hater for awhile, and the simple addition of just more checkpoints has made me appreciate this one so much more

hoh and potd both were so demoralizing cuz you'd start to get to the spicy floors and then die to something you can't react to and then it takes so long to get back to where you were

I think that's okay though, making the final stretch a big push, its just nice being able to like actually learn what these higher tier enemies do without THAT much lost progress

I'm so glad they added more checkpoints for deep dungeons because the later floors are actually really fun
