I feel like another issue fighting game single player content has is a lot of the time the one innovation the devs or pundits come up with is "wait what if the single player content was like school and you had lessons on how to do fighting game stuff so then they can go to online ranked matches"

it's funny because there's actually a really easy solution to this which is either just having a switch you can flip to unlock all characters, or making every character available in VS mode but some locked for single player modes
"we gotta have all the characters unlocked at the start because esports"

the fact that this is a kinda common thing at all is so weird to me because usually all those are are a few images (or even just posed 3D models) and some dialog, that's not exactly breaking the bank

Minnesota still needs your attention
This is the aftermath of an ICE kidnapping a few blocks from my home in St. Paul—an hour ago. A quiet street full of broken glass and at least three wrecked cars. The target of the kidnapping was taken away by ambulance. He was on a stretcher and covered by a sheet, though a cop said he was alive.

honestly I feel like a really obvious fact is that if you're making a fighting game, or any genre really, that's about an established IP, people are gonna want a story mode or at least character interactions, because they're coming from a place of caring about that IP
