Illustration of a mindflayer turning the corner in a dungeon hallway. On the other side of the corner is a human paladin, an elf thief, a gnome alchemist, a human ranger, and a wolf, preparing to get the jump on the mindflayer. The ranger and wolf are running from a mysterious tentacle coming out of a doorway. Promotional image for the second volume of Rey Estaban’s NES Endings book. The cover features various illustrations by me, including:

-Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, Grant Denasty, and Alucard watching Castlevania crumble in sunset.
-Bowser buttslamming Mario
-Ryu Hyabusa and Irene watching a temple crumble over an ocean scene
-Mike from Startropics with bananas in his ears
-Mega Man looking up at a projection of Proto Man’s face in the countryside as wilt’s UFO flies away Illustration for an episode of Retronauts featuring the Nintendo DS game "The World Ends With You". The game's protagonists and monsters are in an abstract visual landscape of graffiti, DS screen/style windows, and audio visualizer shaped like a Tokyo cityscape. Sonic the Hedgehog running through three time periods of Palmtree Panic.

I think today’s Monsters & Mysteries update has the dumbest lore reveal that I’ve been sitting on since chapter one.

Drake sitting there reading about how good the judge thought the song was and how everyone really enjoyed it
The song contains lyrics explicitly accusing Drake of being a pedophile, set to a catchy beat and propulsive
bassline. "Not Like Us" went on to become a cultural sensation.

It's October! My "Wizard and Dark Academia" reference pack is available at www.djamilaknopf.com/store. It includes 100 carefully selected, high-resolution photos of books, unique trinkets, dark hallways, crooked cottages, Gothic architecture, and more.

IGN gives it a 7/10 because the levels are too hand-crafted and the genre becomes counter-culture until it becomes hip until we all start craving levels put into blenders again.

I'm interested in how they plan to do prewritten adventures. FabUlt is VERY DIY and pushes you to homebrew out the gate. I think that can be a little intimidating for new GMs, but I think modules can be too restrictive. Sounds like these are going to be frameworks that you can build on. I dig it.

The character creation is such a sweetspot of low number bloat but lots of customization. Letting players create the setting and fill in details of a scene turns the game into a writer's room. The tools for scaling monsters and treasure to player level are fantastic. The GM advice chapter is perfect

I'm really, really happy Fabula Ultima seems to be getting its flowers. I think it's the most impressed I've been with a TTRPG. That barnburner of a Kickstarter is very well deserved, and even if you're not a weeb, I think that system offers a really compelling framework.

I dunno why you'd make that conclusion, Natalya is a classic American name.

When Mo was born the staff put a blue/white/pink striped wrapping on her head, and I'll admit for a split second I thought "huh trans flag" but because I'm a normal person I remembered "oh those are just the regularass baby colors" and went back to not being fucking weird.

Mind you, we've been practicing, I've been troubleshooting, the help tools are actually really good, we have a human we can email for support, for over two years.

Now I'm wrapping up and I get this long list like

"how do I record them vertically"

😶

And for two and a half years I've been like "hey, I'm shooting something else, I'm working on something else, take the wheel on this remote shoot" and every time Something went Weird.

So I leave in a few days and he sent me a laundry list of things he doesn't know.

I start a new job on Tuesday and I'm transitioning a bunch of old tools/licenses to other designers

We have a platform for recording remote interviews, and two years ago I spent an afternoon teaching this guy how to use it. Every bit of info I relayed got interrupted with "yea what you said got it"

See, but you can absolutely do it! If you follow along, it's like building a Lego set. The thing is Bob had knowledge of color mixing, of nature, and of tools, and he could convey all that in easy steps for laymen.

The performance of it is a whole other thing though. That's real talent.
