Even though there's less party interaction, I like how open ended it is and how each character gets fleshed out with their own side story

there is actually a way to make it easier, have both light parties on one side of him rather than behind him, that way you don't have one group that's super far away from the scythe
also works good for other weapons, if the next one is another sword, you can literally just stay where you are
