I'm a man of many interests, but mostly I'm here for the birds. All photos (except reposts) were taken by me. Most of my birding (so far) has been done in Wisconsin.
We traveled to visit some friends tonight and were treated to this lovely sunset when we arrived. 🌄

This was a great way to start the weekend. A bit chilly, but all the bird joy kept our souls and spirits warm! 🐦
Such a great morning at Picnic Point with an awesome flock of Bird Nerds. We had brand new birders join us and ended the hike with 29 species including a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers that showed off for everyone. Beautiful morning with even better people. Birding is for everyone, even YOU! 🫶🏾🪶

It looks like that bird is wearing a fur coat. Fancy! 🐦🧥
And because I don’t see them that often, another pic of the ruff. 🪶

I prefer the donuts. 🍩 #BirdingLife 🐦
Give a man a bird and he’ll eat for a day.

*Teach* a man to bird and he’ll eat for a lifetime, but mostly just breakfast burritos from the gas station by the park

My latest piece of #BirdArt is a bedazzled peacock on a small wooden box. I never thought I'd use sequins in my art, but they were available and inspired me to make this particular bird. 🦚 #birds

I hate that it gets dark so early now. I wasn't able to go birding today, though I did see a pair of Blue Jays in my backyard this morning, and a juvenile bald eagle flew overhead when I was leaving my daughter off at school. So at least it wasn't a bird-free day for me! 🐦

I've had a great day with my family in downtown Madison, and it started at the Wisconsin Book Festival with a packed-room presentation by my friend @wiscobirder.bsky.social. So proud of him for getting published and being able to share his bird joy with even more people! 🐦

I think the "prophet" was misheard. He actually promised us raptors. 🦅🦉
Still no rapture? I was promised the rapture!

a reminder that starlings are beautiful #birds
As my day unfolds with great gusto, here is a Starling against a #BlueSky for #BirdoftheDay by @alan678.bsky.social . They are so colourful and iridescent in their beauty. Have a good day. 😊

I decorated a canvas pouch yesterday by drawing four Sanderlings walking along a shore (as shorebirds do). They were fun to draw! #birds #art #birdart

I went to an art class where we were asked to paint something inspired by Picasso.

I painted this, which I dubbed "a Picasso bird."

It's very good. (I am a fan of superhero movies.) It's the best big-screen Superman film since the early Christopher Reeve ones. James Gunn clearly understands the character and why he appeals to fans, which I appreciate. (I didn't like Zack Snyder's grimmer Man of Steel take.)
Saw Superman last night and reserved tickets to see it again tomorrow. And I'm not a fan of superhero movies. That's my review.

A piece of #birdart I made with markers today. It started as a Bald Eagle, but it looked a bit chunky, so I pivoted and turned it into a Steller's Sea Eagle instead. 🪶
