A Lakeland scene on a cloudy March day at Derwent Water, Keswick. In the foreground is the end of a wooden jetty with two wooden poles on either side of it. Two male Mallard ducks and one female Mallard are standing near the edge of the jetty close to the lake. The steel grey lake is quite calm with only some light ripples in the water. In the background are two traditional wooden launch boats at their moorings. Behind this with a light dusting of snow on it, framed by the wooden jetty posts is the prominent shape of Skiddaw mountain one of the Northern Fells.
